Today’s Photo Prompt: Lunch!
It was my last day at the CVC East conference. I’d been been stuffing my brain all weekend with new ideas about low stress handling, compassionate euthanasia, hospice and pain management. I used my lunch tickets to purchase some chicken stir-fry from the cafeteria at the conference and then headed outside to soak up some warm sunshine.
Well, I’d like to say that is the end of my lunch description.
I’m not sure if it was me or if it was the dish, but I wasn’t feeling the grub. I gave myself a pep-talk about surviving without lunch.
Then this happened:
DONUTS ARE SO DELICIOUS!!!! Can I get an amen?
Thank you Duck Donuts for saving me in my time of lunch time sadness.
Tomorrow’s Photo Prompt: Behind! (Like my ass?)
As Instagram filled with creative, high quality photos of eyeballs…
I posted this…
I do understand that I lack excellence in my photo with the others of such high caliber. When you are desperate for a shot that involves an eyeball and you’ve got this going on, you’ve got to run with it. Get on that treadmill and start hoofing it.
Day 13’s photo prompt was mirror.
I attended the CVC East Conference at the Virginia Beach Convention Center today. I took in lectures given by Dr. Andy Roark (amazing fellow… you should check him out)
Seriously, I just watched five of his YouTube videos when I was getting the link for that video.
I ate my lunch outside today and that is when the mirror opportunity presented itself…
What were the chances I’d find that wonderful opportunity!
Tomorrow’s photo challenge: eye
I feel like I cheated for this one. Everyone on Instagram seemed to be working with fonts and books. I took a screenshot.
Today’s Photo Challenge: Text
I thought it was clever but it may get me kicked out of the photo challenge.
Also today on Instagram…
I got out of my car and chased down this plastic bag this morning. I thought I was doing the right thing, you know. Saving the Earth, keeping our streets clean. When I got back in my car I noticed that the bag’s logo was not that of a grocery store or a convenience chain. No. It was labeled: Patient’s Belongings. Oh. Dear. God. What kind of cooties did I just come in contact with. Bleh. Oh no. Oh no! So much hand sanitizer, folks.
Residents of Virginia can thank me as the weather returns to normal over the next few days. All our wacky weather has been a result of my winter flag still being out. No worries! Spring flag is flying now!
Tomorrow’s photo challenge: Mirror
I spent most of the day writing “May 10th 2016” on everything so you are lucky that I’m not repeating the travel prompt. There are days I wonder if I was to get on the Bullet Journal bandwagon, could I save my last remaining brain cells.
No. No, I think my brain cells are near extinction. It’s not all their fault really.
Day 11 was the photo prompt tiny.
There are two kittens in this photo. These orphans were on death’s doorstep yesterday. They are better today, but I wouldn’t say completely out of the woods. They are one thing for sure though, tiny.
Kittens are super cute and I do think the world is a better place because of them. Us humans have to get better at controlling their population. These little guys are so malnourished and I’m sure in every town right has litters and litters of kittens just like these. Some will get homes but many of them will continue the feral cycle. If you have stray cats in your neighborhood, you can give an amazing gift of having them spayed or neutered. There are low cost spay/neuter clinics for feral cats providing the surgery and a rabies vaccine. There are way too many homeless kittens and the only way to fix this is contributing to a better outcome for these wayward felines.

I guess I should be thankful for all of the rain this morning. Otherwise my ‘travel’ photo may have been a real drag. My travel today was just the daily commute – weeee!
Have no fear my friends concerned with safety. This photo was taken while I was stopped. Not only was I in a downpour but I was also stuck behind a school bus who makes the most ridiculous bus stops. Back when I was a youngin’, kids gathered from a block radius to all get on the bus at a mutual stop. This bus stops on the highway several times within less than a half mile. One bus stops, kids. Unity in your community starts by having fewer bus stops.
Other travel gems today include:
Tomorrow’s photo challenge: TINY!
I pass so many signs on my way to and from work. Easy, peasy. Signs.
Yeah. Easy. Until you forget you are supposed to be taking a picture of a sign and you have to make some quick maneuvers through traffic to get get on snapshot.
I stopped by one of our local vegetable stands and boom! Day 9 photo challenge complete.
Today there were lots of great sign post on Instagram. I’m going to share these with you guys instead of me running at the mouth.
Tomorrow’s Challenge: Travel
And we trudge on! With a week of photo challenge under my belt I come to day 8: My Sunday. Today was a busy day with Mother’s Day visiting, yard work, and grocery shopping. The morning started out with birding! I have volunteered for the 2nd Virginia Breeding Bird Atlas. My mission is to visit my assigned area (my block) for twenty hours between April and October for the next four years. Two of my visits have to be nocturnal visits. I’m on the lookout for birds and especially birds who are trying to or have already made a love connection! I have to keep my peepers open for singing males, birds collecting nesting materials, fledglings and other such suggestions that breeding is taking place in my block. Not to sound like a total nerd, but it is super exciting! Today I saw a pair of Northern Cardinals alerting their fledgling of my presence (score!) and a female Carolina Wren moving her fledglings along (double score!)
This is an almost enchanting path located in my block. I have high-fived myself numerous times that the owner of this property has granted me permission to bird here! Eeeeee! So much fun!
Tomorrow’s photo challenge : A sign!
Day 7 of Fat Mum Slim’s Photo A Day challenge is… “This means a lot to me”.
I considered a lot of things to photograph today, but after all was said and done I realized I already had the picture I needed. I uploaded a picture of Shamooki on her last day. For the most part, that last week was filled with a 50/50 mix of Shamooki sleeping or staring at the floor. She’d tolerate me petting her but would become agitated after a while and want me to leave her alone. I worried about her being by herself during the day when we weren’t home. Luckily, she had Ratchet. Ratchet watched her like a hawk that last week. Every time she moved to a new location he’d move so he could keep a watchful eye on her.
Ratchet is a bizarre little kitty but his dedication to Shamooki at the end was adorable. It meant a lot to me that in the end, she was never alone.
Tomorrow’s photo challenge: My Sunday!
Day five’s photo challenge from Fat Mum Slim is button.
I want to apologize if I ever gave the impression that this would be an easy jump start to get my creative battery back up and running. Do you know how hard it is to get through your day and find a random button to photograph? Seriously, I almost took a picture of my bellybutton (and I’m sure there are people who have. There were nude shots on N is for day.) Tomorrow is AIR! How the fuck am I supposed to photograph AIR?
I’d love to chat, but I made the fatal new recipe mistake. I paid no attention to the ‘Time To Complete’ section Oktoberfest Chicken and Cabbage. No biggie, right. No biggie until you realize that it takes an hour and a half and you are just starting at 7:00 pm. I hear it is very European to eat late. I always wanted to be a Brit.
Join me tomorrow for Day 6: Air …. Are you fucking kidding me… air.
