About

Melanie Jo Moore is so excited to be writing again.  She tucked her artistic side away as she completed a college program in Veterinary Technology.  Years later, she has graduated college, passed the National Board Exam, and said ‘what the hell!’  Selfpublishing has been a challenging, frightening and rewarding process.  Readers and their wonderful reviews are what keep her going.

Melanie resides on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She has recently immersed herself back into writing. She still loves a good drink, a good man, a good dog and good friends. She finds any combination of those things leads to a good time. Melanie is currently working on the third installment of her memoir series, Mosquito Fog.

Join her on Facebook, Twitter or Google + for updates on that book.

  1. Ni hao! I just dropped by your blog to say how pleased I am that you have decided to follow my blog, and am chuffed as hell to discover that you are a REAL author, a real author who has read my blog, I am gob-smacked and flattered! As soon as my new Kindle is shipped to me from the UK (my previous one was stolen a fortnight ago) I will be downloading your books..can’t wait, meantime I’ll be reading your blog.

    1. I’m flattered that you are flattered! It’s wonderful to meet you. I am an author, though I’m self-published. I don’t have the glory of saying how a publishing house begged me for my manuscripts. However I can be proud of all the sweat and tears that came with doing it the hard way on my own!

Someone stole your Kindle! What jerks! Before Kindles were around, I had a book stolen from my truck. I was mad … but also a bit excited that whoever broke into my truck was a reader … and how can you hate a reader?

Thank you for following me back! I’m excited to be getting your post.

  2. Hi Melanie!
Thanks for following. I’m a happy camper now you are joining me as I trip around by RV, plane, car and time machine to the past.
Comments, compliments, critiques and wisecracks are most welcome.
Sorry I haven’t acknowledged you sooner. I’ve been on the road with a poor signal and arguing with himself over possession of the laptop.
You have a great blog. “See” you again soon.

  3. My three dachshunds give your blog the PAWS UP award. 🙂 Thanks for following my blog. As you may have noticed, I enjoy reviewing books. I see you’ve written two (congratulations!). I’ll look forward to checking them out. Best of luck with your writing career.

    1. You have wiener dogs? I love wiener dogs … there’s a lot of personality jammed into those short, long bodies. You doggies may enjoy the ‘From The Desk Of The Dog’ post.

Thank you! I’m just a wee little self-published writer but I am so proud of what I have accomplished so far. If you ever decided to read my books for your blog, let me know. I’d be glad to hook you up with some free copies 🙂

      1. Thank you – I’d love to read your books – and review.

Yes, alas… I am a sucker, enslaved by three long-haired, overbearing ‘Look at Me!’ dachshunds. They quite run the household. Here’s a secret for you: I have a strong desire for an English Bull Dog. I love their little grouchy faces! I am working on my husband to allow me to increase the dog total of the Kate Loveton household. So far, he remains staunch in his refusal to do so… but I think I’m wearing him down. 🙂

      2. Digital copies just fine. 🙂

Your remark about your dog made me grin. Personally, I don’t like my dogs to be smarter than me… it makes me uneasy, like they really DO own the house! lol

      3. Oh, I agree. It’s really the cat’s job to run the household 🙂

If you would like to email me, sand.n.books(at)gmail(dot)com and let me know which e-reader you have or if you prefer pdf, I’ll shoot you some copies. Sorry about the (at) and (dot), just protecting myself from all those bots on the internet.

  4. I’m glad the self-publishing is working out for you, Melanie, and you’re getting back to the writing! I know writing keeps me going most days. I’m venturing out as a new author, also – most likely self-pubbing, too. I like that you have an inappropriate sense of humor 🙂 I find love and laughter makes the world a better place. Take care and have a wonderful day!

    1. It’s wonderful to meet you! Self-pubbing is a crazy world at times, but I’m glad I’ve done it this way. I’ll have to swing by your blog and check you out. What’s your genre?

      1. Thanks, Melanie! Likewise 🙂 I don’t like to pick just one, but all of my stories include various types of romance. Sometimes sweet, some sensual, some scorching – depending on how I feel compelled to write 🙂 I do love paranormal and fantasy, but my strength lies in contemporary romance. Yes! Please stop by. I love visitors!

  5. Ni hao Melanie! I have just finished reading ‘Letters to Young Chong’ on my Kindle here in Beijing. You were/are a wild child!!!! I thought my teenage years were fairly off the wall, but I didn’t even get close to your expertise. What bemused me somewhat is, don’t they have traffic cops in your neck of the woods? how come you never got busted for DUI? Mind you, as no bodies were ever involved, I’m glad you didn’t. Have now downloaded ‘Tomato Stakes’ and looking forward to reading it. Cheers dear.

    1. Aw, thanks Herschelian! That is so frickin’ awesome that you read my book(s)! It means so much to me.

Yes, there are traffic cops. How I missed all of them over the years is beyond me. I almost feel like I should have a blurb at the beginning of my books that states,”Do not try this at home!”

      Thank you again!

  6. Hi, Melanie, this side Kabbyik from, Kolkata, India.
I think you are a great writer and your style of writing is really matchless. I liked your blog very much and will visit again and again to see your posts.
Though, my blog is quite different, i have been discussing in different topics relating to health and yoga. I hope you will like to visit my blog.
Your suggestion for my blog is cordially invited.
Thanks for following and visiting my blog.
    God bless.

    1. Hi Yoga2All! Sorry for the slow response… the stomach bug is running rampant in our area and sadly I fell victim!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! I have always been interested in yoga so I can’t wait to see your post!
