I was going to post about a cake I made in the spring (yes, I know… so behind… so behind!) but I found myself missing this down right delicious dessert I made in the summer. I’m no stranger to monkey bread, but I was a late bloomer. The first time I experienced it was in 1996 at Stevie Parker’s house. I would have sold a kidney for that stuff. Holy geez it was good! All monkey bread from that point would always be compared to what I had at Stevie’s house. I can tell you that not many have lived up to it. Was it that good? Was it nostalgia? Was it the munchies?
We may never know.
With the bar set high, I never tried to make it myself. That was a sure fire way to culinary crisis.
Until I met this recipe and I could not control myself.
Mmmmmmm… monkey bread! Blueberries! Cream Cheese! MMMMmmmmmmm!
The recipe did break the rules a little bit. It wasn’t exactly made from scratch because I did use canned biscuits. Be my guest if you want to slave and make some. This was a lazy summer afternoon and I wanted to stuff my face as quickly as possible with it. I wasn’t wasting time on homemade biscuits!
The recipe comes from Cathy over at Lemon Tree Dwelling. You can get all the scrumptious details here on her blog. The only thing we did different is we used the cream cheese sauce for dipping instead of pretty icing. Either way you go, you can’t go wrong. I tell you no lies about this one!
The beau rated this one at a 9 out of 10. It’s been a while since something rated that high. I think it may be a hint that it is about time for some more pumpkin cake. This recipe really was amazingly good. It would be great for breakfast or afternoon coffee … or after a late night with some great friends. You apply as you please.
