Day 12: The Last Song I Heard
I heard this song for the first time a few days ago while in the car and I could not stop laughing. Oh, selfies.
Now, hear me out. I’m not totally against all selfies. If there is no one to pull the trigger to capture a moment, fine! It happens.
But how many selfies can one person take of just themselves and it be healthy? Please, layer on some makeup and put on your best duck face…everyone loves to see a different version of that every four hours on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blah, blah, blah (because there are so many apps to support your perfect face display now).
I can’t imagine being so obsessed with yourself. Granted, I’m on the other side of the spectrum. I don’t wear make up and I don’t brush my hair on Sundays (at least). Nine times out of ten, I haven’t looked in the mirror before I left the house so I have no idea what I look like (and it shows). I was not born with the ability to match colors or patterns, so my clothing can sometimes appear creative … but really it is because I have no idea what I’m doing. I don’t take myself that seriously. This is what I look like, don’t like it move on.
And let me tell you young bucks something about selfies. Back in the day when I was your age, you didn’t have a rear facing camera screen so you could see yourself! You didn’t have special apps to touch yourself up! You had to hope and pray that you were actually in the photo, then wait a week while your film was mailed out and the photos were shipped back to you! Do you know how many photos I have seen of the top of our chins and that’s it?
Some 90’s selfie examples:
Now that shit is ratchet, bitches.
